10 Upcoming Movies Which Are Already Doomed
8. John Rambo
Of all the franchises that "needed" an origin story prequel, Rambo was right at the bottom of the pile. But as Sylvester Stallone ages out of the role, of course Hollywood is going to try and keep the brand alive by going back to the beginning.
And so, we have John Rambo, with Noah Centineo playing a younger Rambo, all while David Harbour co-stars as an early-era Colonel Trautman.
The casting is... fine, but Stallone is so endlessly iconic in the role that it's frankly tough to picture anyone, no matter how talented, doing the character justice. Yet it's the latest casting announcement that might ultimately sink the film: James Franco will play the movie's villain, and it's being touted as something of a comeback role for him following the wave of sexual misconduct allegations levelled against him in 2018.
This is just more fuel for the "why does this film exist?" fire, and even with Sisu filmmaker Jalmari Helander at the helm, it's easy to imagine this one being ignored by just about everybody.
