7. Bitcoin

Doug Liman continues his incredibly off-kilter trajectory as a filmmaker, with his next picture, Bitcoin, being a conspiracy thriller centered around the identity of bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

Shortly after production started, it was revealed that Liman would be using AI technology to create all of the film's sets and even use it to adjust performances in post-production.

A recent report indicates AI will be used to make actors playing the likes of Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Eric Trump more closely resemble their real-life counterparts.

This led one producer to dubiously claim that AI saved the production $230 million, but how on Earth would a bitcoin thriller ever cost as much as your average non-Avengers Marvel movie? And if the AI of it all isn't enough to make you tune out, a significant portion of the movie's budget was stumped up by one of its own focal figures, Calvin Ayre, which doesn't exactly suggest it's going to offer a balanced account of the events therein.

There were always going to be filmmakers experimenting with the applications of AI, but this just sounds like an utterly uninspired way to engage with it.
