10 Upcoming Movies With Troubled Productions

5. Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator: Dark Fate will hit theaters later this year and will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Relative to the other entries on this list, the production issue here would be considered minor. That's if you decide accept it at face value.

Filming for the sixth Terminator movie was scheduled to begin in March of 2018, but the film faced a three month delay due to casting. Specifics on the problem have never been given, but on the surface it's not an unusual predicament for movies to face. However, there is reason to believe they were downplaying something more worrisome.

The setback may have involved Arnold Schwarzenegger, who announced his involvement in the film as early as May of 2017. The same month production was set to begin, Schwarzenegger underwent open heart surgery.

Schwarzenegger made a complete recovery, but one has to consider the strain a major production could have on an ageing actor with a history of heart issues. Although Director Tim Miller has shrugged off speculation the surgery had an effect on production, the casting issue could have been code for giving the star of the franchise ample time to bounce back from a delicate procedure.

While these films are million-dollar investments, the well-being of all involved should always take priority. Thankfully Schwarzenegger is a real-life cyborg and was able to return to production. Here's hoping Terminator: Dark Fate is a permanent addition to the Terminator canon.
