10 Upcoming Movies You Couldn’t Make Me Watch With A Gun To My Head

6. Amityville: The Awakening

The Film

The seventeenth - yes, that's SEVENTEENTH - film in the Amityville horror series and a rare big screen outing starring Bella Thorne , Jennifer Jason Leigh and the kid who plays the Joker on Gotham.

Why Not Watch It?

How this franchise isn't yet dead when significantly more than half of the films in it have been sub-faecal is plainly preposterous. I could probably get on board with a bigger money reboot that simply remakes the original and aims to be scary. It's still a great idea, and everyone loves a successful haunted house ghost story.

What I cannot get on board with is a seventeenth film in a franchise, which fundamentally relies on one of the main characters - a sensible, semi-intelligent young woman with access to the Internet - not realising she's just accidentally moved into the most infamous house in the history of the world. Just stop.

Amityville no longer deserves to be in cinemas: it deserves to be released on DVD to absolutely no fanfare, until they do the right thing and reboot it properly. No amount of repeatedly peddling the same tat and pretending it's different will change that.
