3. Jaelyn - The Requin

It's been a brutal fall from the top for Alicia Silverstone.

Once touted as America's Next Sweetheart during the days of her blockbuster roles in Alex Rider and Batman & Robin, Silverstone apparently now finds herself starring in low-budget horror flicks, ála 2022's The Requin.

The Requin is an atrociously bad film. Le-Van Kiet's offering is a blatant rip-off of Blake Lively's The Shallows, with the director's bafflingly uninspired twist on proceedings being that the shark-centric action takes place on a floating resort cottage rather than a rock and buoy.

Things get even more moronic as Silverstone's Jaelyn and her husband Kyle are blown into the middle of the ocean by a tropical storm. Hold on though, we're not quite done with the stupidity, as the cretinous duo proceed to light a signal fire on their extremely wooden shelter. Having obliterated the only thing keeping them from the ocean, the hapless pair are soon attacked by a great white shark.

Jaelyn is brought to this ridiculous backdrop by Kyle for some much needed R&R following a miscarriage. Sadly, the delicate subject matter of Jaelyn's backstory only makes Silverstone's comically bad performance all the more embarrassing. The actress' hilariously unconvincing grimaces unfortunately scream "constipated" as opposed to "visceral fight for survival", interspersed with some legitimately inexplicable sound effects.

Silverstone's one saving grace is that she provided this writer with 89 minutes of unintentional comedy gold.
