Okay, so he may have a costume that looks like a particularly adventurous sex toy, but Erik The Red does have an intriguing history within the X-Men canon. The character is essentially a front, used first by Scott Summers to infiltrate the ranks of supervillains and then by Magneto when Gambit was tried for his part in the Mutant Massacre. It would be great to see Tatum's Gambit given a dark twist like involvement in an act of genocide but it's probably unlikely that Fox will want to take the character to such dark places straight away. Still, that's not to say that Erik The Red couldn't appear in his traditional role as a front for a mutant we already know from the franchise. Maybe Erik Lensherr could use the name to lie low a bit after his exploits at The White House.
