10 X-Men Stories You'll Never Seen On Film

By Tom Baker /

2. X-Statix

Now, most of these stories will never be adapted to the big screen, and probably shouldn't be. They're not only unsuited to the medium, they also kind of suck. Or they're just weird. Like the Australia thing. X-Statix (formerly X-Force), meanwhile, absolutely deserves a place in the canon of modern literature as it does a multiple-film series to capture its twisted genius. Mostly the work of writer Peter Milligan and artist Michael Allred, X-Statix were a different group of teen mutants brought together by the mysterious Coach, who turns out to be evil, and so they strike out on their own and become media darlings, with pop careers and reality shows about them. Sometimes they fight bad guys, too. Not that all their powers are particularly suited to fighting enemies. Vivisector was just a werwolf. Orphan had heightened senses and abilities, but his body was hyper-sensitive. Dead Girl was dead. And Doop was a floating green potato who recorded all their exploits and spoke a language nobody understood. Gloriously unhinged and, alas, most unfilmable.
