One of the biggest arguments against the Hobbit films is that a number of main characters (i.e. the dwarves) still feel under-developed after two films. By the end of The Desolation Of Smaug you could probably recognise them individually by their appearance but you couldn't necessarily distinguish each personality. However one of the Dwarves that certainly feels more rounded as a character is Bofur. In the books, Bofur is not from one of the noble dwarf lines and is a bit more easy going than Thorin. He has the one line in the book - I wish you all the luck in the world, I really do - which nicely sums his character and James Nebsitt delivers the role of Bofur with real heart. Given his more common heritage there is much more of a cheaky chappy nature to Bofur, which Nesbitt nails, making him easily distinguishable from his fellow dwarves. The events of the films have dovetailed from the book now, with Bofur left behind at Laketown; it will be intriguing to see how the last film handles this lovable dwarf during Smaug's attack at the start of the next film.
