Universal launched their Warcraft movie franchise with the clear hope that it'd end up an Avatar-like success far beyond the more niche realm of video game fandom.

That didn't happen, but thanks to the absurdly lucrative Chinese market, Warcraft was still a sizable enough success to ensure a sequel will get made.

The $160 million action epic, with a huge scale to match the Lord of the Rings trilogy, was nevertheless cut down by Logan, likely in part due to Warcraft's poor reviews and Logan's astronomical critical reception. Don't be surprised if a superior Warcraft sequel (which won't be hard) manages to fare much better, though, and even beats Logan at his own game.
