3. The MCU Forgot About The Leader After The Incredible Hulk
For a long time The Incredible Hulk has been treated like the red-headed stepchild of the MCU, where the movies didnt flat out ignore it but would rather everyone forget it happened. Marvels messy falling out with Edward Norton probably played a part in that, and most of the films events like The Abomination and Samuel Sterns turning into The Leader have been quietly swept under the rug. Sterns was no doubt going to be a big part of whatever sequel Marvel had planned, but the lukewarm reception and the Norton situation meant they werent keen to rush back for more solo Hulk adventures. The reappearance of William Hurt as General Ross in Civil War make it feel like theyre finally ready to embrace The Incredible Hulk though. Maybe future movies will reintroduce Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson will finally be able to don a giant head prosthetic to bring The Leader to life; even if he doesnt return the MCU is big on continuity, so at least the character's origin story from The Incredible Hulk should remain intact.
