The Plot: Little is known specifically beyond the movie taking place during World War II's allied evacuation of Dunkirk.

Why You'll Cry: Though Christopher Nolan's movies are frequently criticised for being too emotionally cold and detached, a war movie based on real events where actual people lost their lives could very well be his most resonant movie to date.

The evacuation itself should give Nolan plenty to work with in terms of set-pieces, and considering the superb cast he's assembled (Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy and Mark Rylance to name just a few), it shouldn't be too difficult to wring plenty of pathos out of the brutal real-life scenario.

Given that war is inherently much more emotional than a Batman movie or fictional sci-fi, this could be Nolan's definitive tear-jerker to date.
