11 Ways Suicide Squad Needs To Set Up Future DC Movies

4. Give The Joker Potential

Look, this might be a little late, but the Joker - who is just a supporting character here, let's not forget - needs to have promise for future appearances. This is the first time in the Batman franchise that there's a proper opportunity to introduce a Joker with a legacy, and to set up future appearances, and though this is the slightest of his potential appearances, it has to be good.

We need him to be fearsome, intriguing and to withhold enough mystique that he's not really defined in this movie. He needs to have a magic and a charm that makes the audience want to see him fighting a bigger nemesis (in Batman), and to have a reason for Batman to intervene (and not just because he's escaped obviously).

Jared Leto has big shoes to fill, but he simply has to do it.

The Hints

Everything seems to point to a positive Joker performance. There are the inevitable "well, he's not as good as Heath Ledger" comments, and some critics have balked at his annoyance factor, but on the whole, it seems he's gone down pretty well.

Let's hope Warner Bros feel the same and allow him to come back to be directed by Ben Affleck next.
