5. AVP & AVP: Requiem
Wiped Out By: Prometheus
There are some people out there who believe that the two AVP movies are actually more entertaining than the confusing, provocative nonsense of Prometheus and Alien Covenant. They might have taken a lot of pot-shots over the years about such opinions, but they're not entirely incorrect.
As purely entertaining vehicles, both are reasonably engaging (the first is far superior to the second) and neither asks you to head straight to the library to understand any of their lore as the follow-up prequels do. They're not great, but they do a job if you're looking for an excuse to eat 90 minutes worth of popcorn.
Still, RIdley Scott clearly wasn't a fan of them and decided they ought to not exist any more as part of the canon, so he restructured it all entirely around Prometheus' weird half-explanations.
