For a non-comic book aficionado like myself, the character of Tony Stark/Iron Man was someone I knew by name only. By the end of this monologue, thanks to cool, slick performance by Robert Downey Jr., I knew everything I needed to know about this character. It's cheesy. It's funny. It's cool. It's fearless. The suave nature in which Tony Stark raises his arms, Jesus-like as the Afghanistan mountain-range behind him explodes, shades on, letting the explosion pass through him, is one of the most memorable moments in the Marvel Universe so far.
