5. Ed Harris Is The "Secret" Villain - Geostorm
The Twist: Secretary of State Leonard Dekkom (Ed Harris) is revealed to be the saboteur behind the impending Geostorm, hoping to use it to wipe out the line of Presidential succession and install himself as the Leader of the Free World.
Why It's Dumb: From pretty much the second he shows up on-screen, Ed Harris has a neon sign stapled to his shoulder reading "THIS GUY IS BAD. LIKE, REALLY BAD, GUYS!"
Anyone with a remote bead on how human beings act should've seen his subterfuge coming a mile off, and incredibly stupid though his scheme is, this is a movie called Geostorm after all, so it's not inconsistent with the rest of the movie (compared to, say, The Book of Henry).
Plus, the twist does mean that audiences get to see Harris grabbing a rocket launcher from the trunk of a car and firing it at a car he thinks contains the President, so you can't hate it too much.
