The Wicker Man is one of the most creepy, mysterious and influential films ever released and earns the impressive title of being Christopher Lee's favourite that he's ever starred in. It quickly becomes apparent that Howie has stumbled upon a mysterious cult that still believe in pagan gods as the route cause of their failed harvest during the year. And despite being given a whole host of clues that he isn't welcome on the island, is in serious danger from the inhabitants and way out of the loop on what is truly going on, Howie never even begins working out that what's truly going on until it is far too late.

Fitting the description of arriving of his own free will, representing the 'power of a king' and being both a virgin and a fool, Howie is seized by the locals and told that he has been intended as a human sacrifice this entire time. There's no escape for Howie this time and he is set ablaze inside a huge wicker man as the townsfolk sing ancient pagan songs around him.
