12 Movie Moments That Pissed Off Fans The Most In 2016

I guess listing every scene of Ghostbusters 2016 would be going too far.

2016 was filled with all sorts of great cinematic moments. There was the epic airport fight from Captain America: Civil War, King Louie’s song from The Jungle Book, the bear attack from The Revenant and – of course – the massive food orgy scene from Sausage Party.

Like every other year, there was no end of silly or flat-out dumb scenes too. Some of these moments spoilt solid movies for the fans, whilst others were just the cherry on top of a large stupidity cake. Some of them have already become infamous, and in some cases, they’ve come to define the movies themselves in the eyes of film fans.

That said, they’re usually good for a laugh, and it just wouldn’t be a list of movie moments that pissed off fans without a whole lot of bad scenes on it. Let's take a look at some of the most extreme examples, and examine why they bothered fans so much.

12. The Phoenix Rises - X-Men: Apocalypse

Bryan Singer did an expert job untangling the messy continuity of the X-Men franchise with Days Of Future Past, and provided himself with a clean slate with Apocalypse. It was something of a shock to witness him then mess it up again, making a bloated blockbuster with too many subplots, characters and CGI; it was his version of The Last Stand, basically.

It feels like he tried to shoehorn in every single idea or concept he ever dreamt up with Apocalypse, which might explain the lack of focus. He obviously had unfinished business with The Dark Phoenix Saga, explaining why young Jean briefly goes all Phoenix-y in the climax.

This finale was already a bore fest of characters throwing a bunch of CG crap at Apocalypse, but the instant Grey uses the phoenix as a weapon to destroy him is jaw-droppingly silly, and should have been saved for a movie where the powers are actually fleshed out.
