1. It's More Similar To Empire Than It First Seems
And finally, though a first viewing might've left fans relieved that The Last Jedi wasn't just a dispassionate retread of The Empire Strikes Back much like The Force Awakens cribbed from A New Hope, it still has a surprising amount in common with it if you're really paying attention.
Our own Jonathan Gatenby did a fantastic job running down most of the key similarities, chiefly that Crait is a thinly-veiled Hoth (it's Hoth...but salty), the heroes are betrayed by a charming rogue (Lando in Empire, DJ in The Last Jedi), there's a dark side cave, the protagonist's parentage is revealed, a young Jedi is trained by a reluctant, aging master, and so on and so forth.
Johnson was at least better about hiding the "homages" than J.J. Abrams was in The Force Awakens, but despite all of its attempts to subvert the expected, it's ultimately still shamelessly holding a mirror up to the best movie in the franchise.
