8. Idris Elba - Beasts Of No Nation

Idris Elba gave a ferocious performance in Cary Fukunaga's searing Netflix thriller, but the actor had a brush with death while shooting a scene for the movie on a waterfall in Ghana.

While waiting for the scene to be set-up, Elba rested his foot on a wet rock and inevitably slipped, at which point he stumbled towards the edge of the waterfall, only being saved from oblivion by a member of the film's security team.

Had things gone a little differently, Elba would've plunged 100 feet into the harsh depths below, most certainly making this a posthumous performance.
