You rarely get to see characters in comic books name themselves - a lot of the time a newspaper will come up with the name, or they'll go the Marvel Studios route of another character blurting it out ("You wanna be a War Machine? Fine!". Ugh). Of course, Reynolds and co. simply couldn't miss up the opportunity for a gag where Wade gives himself a codename. "Deadpool! ...*gasp*... Captain Deadpool!" Weasel grimaces, and they agree - "Just Deadpool." It's pulled off with aplomb - and includes a nice little jab at Captain America in the process. The gravy is Weasel's second Fourth Wall-breaking home run; "That's franchise material."
