Many fans were baffled to hear that some iconic shots from the trailer appear to be missing in the final film, namely what was essentially the marketing money shot, of Thing being lowered out of a plane into a city. Was Thing facing off against Doom? Was a battle scene cut out as a result? Why would this have to be cut? There are so many nagging questions about what happened to this, and it's hard to believe that the film could've been any worse, even if the reshoot made the logic a little trickier, with this scene being included. Given Trank's already-vocal attitude towards the production, hopefully he might sever ties with Fox completely and give a run-down of what happened to scenes such as this. Given that one of the big complaints about the film is its pronounced lack of action, it seems mind-boggling to remove something that looks so awesome, as this would patch up that one issue right away, at least in part.
