Why It Should Suck: The Bumblebee-starring Transformers spin-off is part of Paramount's effort to build a Transformers Cinematic Universe...which nobody asked for. It's also written by Christina Hodson, who wrote last year's horrendous Naomi Watts-starring thriller Shut In.
Why It Might Be Awesome: There are a few glimmers of hope here, firstly that it's being directed by Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight, who will surely bring a very different style and tone to the series than Michael Bay.
Also, it stars Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, two appealing actors who seem pretty well-suited to the Transformers world, and the late-80s setting should further give it a different flavour to the series' core movies.
Plus, it's being written by a woman, so it's gotta be the least sexist of all the Transformers films, right?
