In the early summer, the Alien: Covenant shoot wound up in Sydney, Australia, where a lucky punter managed to sneak a snap of Ridley Scott filming an extremely peculiar-looking scene given the lack of context.

It appears to show a clan of black, humanoid creatures in some form of distress, either attacking one another or fleeing (unsuccessfully) from something else. Some have suggested they may be frozen in position, having been charred by some sort of substance, Pompeii-style.

It's certainly a haunting, disturbing image all the same, and suggests that the movie could feature some sort of prologue sequence which perhaps further explains the origins of the Xenomorph.
