8. Ghost In The Shell Actually Gets A Nomination

If this year's Oscars proved anything, it's that the Academy doesn't always discriminate against a film based on its perceived quality, at least as far as crafts awards are concerned.

Suicide Squad was not only nominated for Best Makeup & Hairstyling, but went on to win the award outright to the shock of just about everyone,

While we still don't know exactly how good or bad the upcoming live-action Ghost in the Shell adaptation will be, few are exactly expecting Oscar nominations for it.

That said, don't be too shocked it at least the visual effects, costume design or makeup and hairstyling receive a nomination. Hell, it could even win one of them. Again, much, much weirder things have happened.
