Monster movies are everywhere and its hard to know which ones are actually worthy of your time. Well, mark my words that this gem of a South Korean flick certainly is (and then some!). On a peaceful day, a giant lizard-like monster suddenly appears out of Seouls Han River, causing havoc wherever it goes and terrifying the city's unsuspecting residents. When the daughter of a young family is taken captive by the monster, her family sets out to rescue her at all costs. Stylishly directed by acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho (Memories of Murder, I Saw the Devil, Snowpiercer), it's a rollicking ride of a monster flick chalk full of exhilarating set pieces the opening attack is particularly fantastic impressive CGI and a kind of emotional involvement you dont usually get with this sort of thing. Available on US/Australian/New Zealand Netflix
