8. The Dark Tapes

The Dark Tapes looks set to be the darkest entry in this sub genre yet, featuring five interwoven tales centred on the concept of a paranormal universe colliding with the living world. It’s also very much a found footage feature, which is never a bad thing.

Going by the trailer, it’s a chance for ghosts, ghouls and a skull-faced beast that is already destined to be an iconic boogeyman to scare the heck out of us. Having already picked up awards at the likes of the Independent Horror Movie Awards and CAL-TEX Horror Festival, expect this one to be a sleeper hit this year.
