15 Horror Movies You Can't Miss In 2017
2. The Dark Tower
Stephen King's epic fantasy series has experienced a hellish journey to the big screen. In the project's infancy, it was mooted as a TV series (be honest, there's an argument raging in all of us that this would have been spectacular) but the execs at Columbia got the gig and decided King's vision of a Gunslinger trampling though a twisted version of America's Old West belonged on a big screen.
Everything about this production points to positive, there's been some canny casting in Idris Elba as the stetson-wearing protagonist and Matthew McConaughey is on board as the evil Walter Padick. Interestingly, director Ron Howard and his team of writers - it wouldn't be a Howard production without Akiva Goldsman providing some prose - have forged a version of King's tale that isn't necessarily based on a single book, but will be more of a sequel to the entire series.
While The Dark Tower may not be the scariest film of 2017, this will certainly be the genre's biggest blockbuster of the year.
