15 Most Exciting Movies Coming In March 2020

Quality horror, lesser known superheroes, and everything in between mark March's releases.

March is an odd time for movies. Holding the place between all the summer blockbusters to come and those considered for the Oscars in January, it's often when studios release whatever they're looking to claw something back from. This might be something they know is awful, or just something they fear would be lost amongst bigger name films. While this means that garbage movies can take cinema-goers money in March, there are always some surprises that shine even brighter when separated from the muck.

Last year we had a fun superhero movie based on a character who should have been a household name much earlier, a live-action Disney remake, an incredible true story from a foreign country, and another movie in the growing immigration horror genre. This year we have... well, all of those again actually.

Alongside the usual suspects you'll find a few critically-acclaimed films that have been doing the rounds at the film festivals, some truly creepy and possibly triggering horror tales, a couple of very minimalistic science fiction films, two biopics on incredible people, and one of the strangest comedies France has ever released.

There should be something for everyone this year, so let's have a look.

15. Saint Maud

Saint Maud received rave reviews during the Toronto Intenational Film Festival, where it premiered in the Midnight Madness category and became one of the most talked about horror films of the year.

The titular Maud is a particularly pious nurse (with a terrifying choice in footwear that redefines the idea of nurse shoes), who becomes convinced she has a holy mission to save the soul of the dying woman she cares for. Already disturbing obsessed with her charge, sinister forces and her own troubled and sinful past threaten to put an end to what Maud sees as a divine calling.

This promises to be another religious horror for those who enjoyed films such as Midsommar, The Witch, or Hereditary. Written and directed by Rose Glass, who is making her feature directorial debut here, Saint Maud releases March 27th in the US.
