15. Saint Maud

Saint Maud received rave reviews during the Toronto Intenational Film Festival, where it premiered in the Midnight Madness category and became one of the most talked about horror films of the year.

The titular Maud is a particularly pious nurse (with a terrifying choice in footwear that redefines the idea of nurse shoes), who becomes convinced she has a holy mission to save the soul of the dying woman she cares for. Already disturbing obsessed with her charge, sinister forces and her own troubled and sinful past threaten to put an end to what Maud sees as a divine calling.

This promises to be another religious horror for those who enjoyed films such as Midsommar, The Witch, or Hereditary. Written and directed by Rose Glass, who is making her feature directorial debut here, Saint Maud releases March 27th in the US.
