15 Upcoming Movie Rumours We Hope Aren't True
1. Kylo Ren Was Wrong & Rey's Real Parents Are Revealed - Star Wars: Episode IX
The Rumour: Though Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) revealed to Rey (Daisy Ridley) in The Last Jedi that her parents were in fact nobodies, Episode IX will effectively retcon this, with Ren either turning out a liar or misinformed, and at least one of Rey's parents being a significant franchise player.
How Likely Is It?: Not very, thankfully. Though Rian Johnson's disruptive storytelling in The Last Jedi wasn't to all tastes and Episode IX director J.J. Abrams is also writing the trilogy capper - which would allow him to retcon whatever the tell he wanted, within reason - it would be pretty damn sloppy to undermine the brutal, cold meaning of Ren's words.
Then again, Abrams proved with The Force Awakens that he's not above aggressive fan-service, and there are scores of fans who would love to see Rey revealed as the daughter of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in particular.
Neither route would be terribly surprising, honestly, though it'd certainly make more sense to commit to Johnson's vision at this point. Plus, isn't the Star Wars franchise incestuous enough already?
