4. The Wolverine's Third Act Totally Sucks

Though the first hour-or-so of The Wolverine was for the most part entertaining in every way that Origins: Wolverine wasn't, it didn't quite hold together for the third act, where the movie's most glaring problems all abound at once. There's that ridiculous parasite attached to Logan's heart, his absurd means of getting rid of it, the Silver Samurai turning out to be Yashida all along, Viper's lame death, and so on and so on. The final 30-40 minutes of The Wolverine play out as though cobbled together at the last minute by a different screenwriter. After laying a rather solid foundation, it crumbles apart at the end, and even if it's still vastly superior to Origins, that it couldn't stick the landing is tremendously disappointing. The twists were unnecessary and just left a sour taste considering that the film was doing just fine without them.
