Sometimes movie poster artwork can outdo the film it’s trying to promote in terms of quality, and that’s exactly the case with the poster for actor Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut American Pastoral. Featuring a moody, black and white rural American landscape turned sideways with a country house engulfed in colorized flames, the poster is surreal and visually jarring.

Unfortunately, the film itself was middling at best and currently holds a rather shameful 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe stick to acting next time, McGregor.
