20 Best Movies Moments Of 2017

2. Wonder Woman – No Man’s Land

After the colossal flop of previous female-led superhero movies like Catwoman and Elektra there was a lot riding on Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. If successful, it could pave the way for future female-fronted films but if it too should flop then we might as well resign ourselves to the likelihood of the superhero genre staying a total c**k-fest.

Thankfully, Jenkins pulled it out of the hat with a movie that’s both thrilling and heartfelt with a charming performance from star Gal Gadot to boot. The mastery of the movie lies in scenes like Gadot’s trek across No Man’s Land to save the villagers of Veld and help the Allied troops advance on the enemy.

Despite discouraging and poetically fitting words from Steve Trevor (“This is No Man’s Land, Diana. It means no man can cross it.”), Diana dons her tiara and defiantly strides across the battlefield deflecting German fire left, right and centre with a steely calm and confidence.

It’s Wonder Woman’s defining superhero moment and without a doubt one of 2017’s most iconic scenes.
