20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

20. Ian Hart - Quirinus Quirrell

It's easy to forget that Ian Hart was even in Harry Potter, as this was ultimately a one-film appearance, and therefore it's also easy to forget just how good he was as the first film's villain.

Ian Hart brought out Quirinius Quirrell's goofy, bumbling nature very well throughout the movie and made him a hapless comic relief, before suddenly flicking the switch in the final act.

Once Quirrell's true nature was uncovered, Hart delivered an icy, genuinely malevolent performance which also had a gentle undercurrent of cowardice to it, making Quirrell a brilliantly repulsive antagonist.

The climax to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone hasn't aged too well, but Hart's excellent villainous turn is still a major highlight and it's a shame he couldn't have come back for more.
