3. Hocus Pocus (1993)

Hocus Pocus is one of those rare movies where the villains are by far the best characters. The Salem sisters are evil child killers but you immediately forget about it because they’re also hilarious, stylish and even get their own fabulous musical number. Whilst the heroes are fine enough to root for, it’s the witches who will hold your attention.

The actual story of Hocus Pocus is weak and has nothing horrifying about it. But the movie redeems itself for the comical characters and campy factor, not to mention some beautiful autumn scenery scattered about.

It’s the type of movie which is ideal for some easy-going entertainment that doesn’t require much focus on. The film may have been a major box office failure on its 1993 release but it has since grown in popularity every single Halloween and has become something of a cult classic.
