20 Films To Watch If You Love Halloween But Hate Horror
2. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (1982)
There’s no better family film about a minor alien invasion than E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. Although it is heavily science fiction, it’s also a sweet movie about the unconventional friendship between a young boy and an alien who’s lost his way on earth.
And if there’s one film director who can make you fall in love with someone as unusual looking as E.T., it can only be Spielberg. The man knows how to tug at his audience’s heartstrings in a storyline that other movie makers couldn’t pull off.
The film is not far off from its 40th anniversary (that’s one way of making you feel old), but with an evocative John Williams’ score, lots of adventure and so many enchanting moments (particularly the flying across the moon scene), it has remained an uplifting family favourite, idyllic to watch during the autumn season.
