20 Greatest Sidekicks In Film History

7. Evil Ed - Fright Night

Evil Ed might be the least known character on this list, although perhaps a bit more famous now that his cult horror classic Fright Night has been remade within the past few years. In the newer version, Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays Evil Ed, but he can't hold a candle to the sheer campiness of Stephen Geoffreys' performance in the original. Fright Night is the story of a teenage boy who begins to suspect that his handsome new neighbor is a vampire, especially after he catches a glimpse of him feeding on a woman and then hearing her missing persons report on the news. Evil Ed is Charley Brewster's stalwart companion throughout the film, but unfortunately their close friendship puts him in danger when the vampire decides to up the body count. He ends up on the wrong end of a pair of fangs, but amazingly his transformation into a vampire (and for some reason, a wolf) only makes his character more hilarious.
