10. Interstellar

Christopher Nolan's $170m sci-fi epic is a movie that highlights both the director's strengths and weaknesses; it boasted practical effects, beautiful visuals, big set-pieces and even bigger ideas yet also suffered from an increasingly convoluted plot, mountains of exposition and a bloated running time. Interstellar also features plenty of wooden dialogue, but the script's shortcomings are overcome by great work from the cast, led by yet another brilliant performance from Matthew McConaughey. While it isn't his best work, Interstellar delivers plenty of big-budget spectacle and marked another strong entry on the filmography of Christopher Nolan, the director enhancing his reputation as one of the most bankable names in Hollywood as he scored yet another box office smash, with the movie earning over $650m and counting at the box office. While Interstellar does have its fair share of problems, Nolan delivered yet another beautifully shot, well-acted and intelligent crowd-pleaser.
