20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming

18. Baywatch

Such is the obsession with old projects from the past that the film industry has now arrived at multiple reboots of a property whose first reboot didn't quite pan out the way as was hoped. Seriously, at what point is defeat admitted?

Baywatch was an incredibly popular and iconic TV series, but was a product of its era, with projects now needing more than annoyingly good looking people running across the beach in slow motion. As such, the 2017 reboot with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, two of the most annoyingly good looking people out there, fell flat on its face.

So, is the property left to rest? No! Surely a rebooted TV series, with more direct ties to the original will work right? That's what seems to be the thought process behind the new Baywatch take, that will see Mitch Buchanan's (David Hasselhoff) son appear in the form of Stephen Amell.

David Chokachi has also been cast, reprising his role as Cody Madison from the original series as something of a mentor for Amell's Hobie. Of course, anything could happen, and the show could turn into an absolute smash hit, but at this point it does feel more like flogging a dead horse than getting back on it.
