20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming
19. Kick-Ass
Though it could happen for a number of different reasons, you could largely expect to see a movie or TV show rebooted either as something of an homage, to bring it into the modern day, or to try and earn a quick buck exploiting nostalgia.
What isn't quite so common, in that it's difficult to imagine it happening at all, is a creator rebooting their own work. This is however, what Matthew Vaughn will attempt with a new take on Kick-Ass.
Getting in before the world largely got tired of superheroes, the fun, foul-mouthed, self contained stories of Kick-Ass and its sequel were incredibly popular. A trilogy-making third chapter never came, which is something that Vaughn will try to rectify, not with a legacy sequel, but with a brand new trilogy.
What's more is that, though no other details or casting news have been revealed, the first of the three films, titled School Fight, has already been shot. The sequel, tentatively titled The Stuntman will follow, before Kick-Ass finishes off the series. With no real news since January 2024, the timeline on all of this is unclear, but with the Kingsman and Argylle franchises seemingly dead in the water, this appears to be a priority for Vaughn.
