Metropolis is as classic as classic cinema gets. A social commentary film about class and a dystopian future, it focuses on the son of the city's tyrannical ruler, Freder, as he attempts to mediate between the two opposite ends of society.

For a film that has as many metaphors as it does actors, the above is visually striking due to its surreal nature, and symbolises the crucifixion of Christ - a role in which Freder essentially plays in the film.
