Lady Liberty's rusted, legless shell jutting out of an idyllic-looking beach at the end of Planet Of The Apes will forever be remembered for two things.

One, it's an expertly filmed scene in which the camera continually plays coy with the viewer - not allowing audiences to catch a glimpse until Taylor himself discovers it - and two, it features Charlton Heston furiously punching the floor as he realises the human race are a vicious bunch of self-destroying idiots.
