20 Recent Movies That Deserve A Sequel

4. The Naked Gun

Bringing another Naked Gun into the world in 2025 was a risky proposition, considering the great Leslie Nielsen was so unique in his comedy talent, and the very specific style of the movie. By all accounts, this should not have worked, and yet it was utterly joyous.

The reboot/sequel saw Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson shine as the wacky and loveable Frank Drebin Jr. and Beth Davenport, and the potential for a follow-up is through the roof. The sillier the better.

However, opinions on returning for more are incredibly varied from the people crucial to making it happen. Neeson himself has spoken of the project as a one-off rather than the beginning of a franchise, while director Akiva Schaffer has cited Paramount's change of owners as a big reason as to why there are no plans for another.

Producer Seth MacFarlane has said that everyone, including Liam, would love to do another. Based on Family Guy, Ted, and A Million Ways to Die in the West, MacFarlane can seemingly get Neeson to do anything, and while he did admit that the final decision rests with Paramount, a box office intake of over $100 million should hopefully convince them to do more.
