6. Deadpool 2 - It Is Actually Something Different This Time

Fine, the first Deadpool was a fun time with some really good moments, but it was also a movie that wasn't nearly as subversive as it thought it was. Despite Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) boldly proclaiming that this would be a different type of superhero movie, was it really? Take away the R-rating, and you've got a formulaic superhero origin story complete with one of the blandest superhero film villains of them all.

Deadpool 2, on the other hand? This one does actually cash in on that promise. Alongside being a more confident and entertaining follow-up all around, Deadpool 2 isn't your typical superhero story. It's filled with unexpected twists and, on a structural level, it deviates from the norm. Most notably, it doesn't actually have a villain in the traditional sense, with the main conflict being Deadpool trying to help a kid who's on a dark path. 

Thanks largely to how creative and playful it is, Deadpool 2 ranks among the strongest superhero sequels of the last decade, not to mention one of the finest movies in the now-ended X-Men franchise. Speaking of which...
