20 TERRIFYING Scenes In TERRIBLE Horror Movies

Because sometimes bad horror movies do something right.

What card-carrying horror fan doesn't love being scared to the end of their wits?

For many the thrill of being terrified in the safety of a movie is the entire appeal of the horror genre, but of course, it also goes without saying many bad horror films simply fail to raise the pulse at all.

And then there are those atrocious horror films which, almost as if by accident, manage to strike gold for just a single nerve-shredding scene.

Sometimes an otherwise woeful horror movie will serve up a single scene that's so damn intense, scary, and all-around unnerving that you have to wonder quite where the hell it all came from.

And that's absolutely true of these 20 horror films, which while largely panned by critics and also a large swath of the general audience, are largely remembered for a single banger scene that delivered the anxious goods.

Years later it might even be the only moment that most people actually remember about the movie.

Very few films are all bad, and sometimes even the terrible ones manage to do something right, even if only for a few scattered minutes...

20. The Spider Mannequin - Silent Hill: Revelation

Silent Hill: Revelation is an absolutely rancid follow-up to the original 2006 Silent Hill movie, which remains one of Hollywood's more stylish and spirited video game adaptations, flaws and all.

Revelation's story is incomprehensible hogwash even for Silent Hill's standards, the characters are thinly written, and it's filled to the brim with thoroughly naff, poorly-aged 3D gimmickry for bad measure.

But it does briefly touch upon greatness when protagonist Heather (Adelaide Clemens) finds herself stuck in a warehouse full of mannequins.

As creepy as mannequins inherently are, it might sound a bit hackneyed and overdone, but director M. J. Bassett goes hard here by revealing the presence of a spider-like mannequin monster which promptly starts chasing Heather and her new pal Suki (Heather Marks).

Sure, the CGI hasn't aged spectacularly well, but there's something innately revolting about the creature that gets the lizard brain going, especially once it reveals its disgusting mouth filled with dozens of sharp teeth.
