While Olivia Williams auditioned for, and was ultimately successful
in landing, the role of Anna Crowe in The Sixth Sense, Williams wasn’t M. Night
Shyamalan’s first pick for the gig. In fact, she wasn’t even the director’s
second choice for the character.

Before Olivia was offered the part, the Anna role had
already been turned down by two other people.
Both Marisa Tomei and then Claire Forlani were offered the
chance to play Anna Crowe, but both of them declined the part. As such, it was Olivia Williams who would put in an impressive turn as the wife
of Bruce Willis’ deceased Malcolm Crowe.
