14. Martin Freeman

We were all excited when it turned out Martin Freeman was joining the MCU. Martin Freeman is a fantastic actor and few people can play an every-man better than him, but playing CIA agent Everett K. Ross represented a good opportunity for him to venture outside his comfort zone.

In real life, Freeman is nothing like the everyman archetype he always plays so one would've thought he'd be fine playing a more charismatic character but unfortunately his performance doesn't really work.

Ross is not an interesting character but many great performances have come from actors having fun with uninteresting parts. Unfortunately, Freeman simply looks bored and unsure of what to do with himself in the role.

His American accent was very dodgy as well and given how good Freeman's Minnesotan accent was in Fargo it's a surprise he mangled a far less niche accent so much.

In fairness to Freeman, this mainly applies to Captain America: Civil War as both he and his accent improved quite a bit in Black Panther.
