Unsurprisingly, Cruise has received the majority of the film's most ecstatic praise, for once again proving a consummate professional and volunteering to place himself in harm's way through an array of gloriously practical stunt-work. The film isn't beyond making a little fun of its esteemed star, though, by having him face off against several larger-than-life baddies who tower over him. Cruise is frequently ridiculed for his diminutive 5 foot 7 height, and the film only emphasises it, making several of his altercations with over-sized enemies both amusing and all the more entertaining, because it makes Hunt seem more relatable to the audience, feeling more like an "everyman" no matter his skills as a spy. It's just fun to see the actor throwing himself into so many self-deprecatory fight scenes, and the results are some of the movie's most amusing moments.
