20 Recent Box Office Bombs EVERYONE Saw Coming
2. Die My Love
Where box office is concerned, past behaviour is the greatest predictor of future behaviour, and so even with the combined A-list might of Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, it didn't seem like Lynne Ramsay's Die My Love would move the commercial needle much at all.
Not one of Ramsay's four previous films has proven profitable at the box office, and given that her new psychological drama received a brutal "D+" CinemaScore from early viewers despite wide acclaim and Oscar buzz for Lawrence's performance, its $11.9 million final cume wasn't a shock.
At this point any distributor releasing a Lynne Ramsay film clearly knows what they're getting themselves into - or, at least, they certainly should - so this likely didn't astound anyone on the business-end of things.
However, considering that Lawrence and Pattinson actively promoted the film and many of their interviews went viral, one might've expected it to do a tad better than this.
