20 Recent Box Office Bombs EVERYONE Saw Coming

3. We Bury the Dead

The new Daisy Ridley-starring zombie film We Bury the Dead was well-received by critics, some of whom cautioned audiences that the film's marketing had inaccurately sold it as an action-packed gore-fest.

In actual fact, this is a more sedate and meditative drama about a woman moving on from grief that just so happens to take place in the midst of an undead apocalypse.

Action is relatively infrequent and the film has other priorities on its mind, which evidently caught some viewers off-guard going by its dire audience score.

While the film's budget has never been disclosed, we can freely assume that it wasn't low enough to make its paltry $4 million box office haul a success in any way.

We Bury the Dead definitely has cult classic potential, though with its marketing being so wrong-headed, it'll probably take some time for the right people to discover the movie and spread the word.
